Our main environmental challenges are air emission and ballast water (all vessels) and thermal impact to water for our on-site operations of FPSO’s, FSRU’s and SRV’s. In order to meet these challenges, we will focus our efforts on these three areas:
-
Reducing emission of CO2, NOx and SO2
-
Install Ballast water treatment systems in all vessels where feasible
-
Work with local interests in finding acceptable solutions for dispersing waste heat to water
We have an environmental program that will be reviewed yearly as part of the strategy-, budget- and goal setting process. The following guidelines will be applied in the review:
-
We will always seek to take a long term and sustainable approach when balancing priorities related to financial performance and environmental impacts.
-
We will train our staff as appropriate in environmental matters related to their assignments
-
We will take active measures to bring forward and make use of available and proven technology to reduce our environmental impact, i.e.
|
|
- Make use of commissioned Research and Development (R&D) and participate in Joint Industry Development (JID’s) in order to develop new, energy efficient vessels and operations
- Support and participate as relevant in R&D initiatives which are aimed at reducing the overall environmental footprint within the shipping and LNG industries
- Make use of our vessels as testing ground for new, promising technology and solutions as relevant
- Ensure through our contracts with shipyards and module construction yards that the materials and methods used are as environmentally friendly as feasible. In particular ensure that equipment and materials are chosen that provides for the possibility of ever improving environmental results during the operations of the facility
|
-
We will promote a proactive approach towards our customers related to environmental matters and work together with them to explore and develop technological/operational solutions contributing to minimising the environmental footprint of our activities
-
We will take a proactive role in contributing to shaping the regulatory landscape together with key regulators in order to secure legislation which is realistic, goal based and with an actual effect on the environment
-
We will include environmental requirements in our contract and procurement work, including items such as environmentally friendly production and operation of our equipment and vessels.
-
We will review our environmental objectives and targets regularly
We will be open and explicit in all aspects of our environmental challenges and in communicating our intentions, actions and results to the public.
