The market situation, the availability of a large number of gas fields that are too small to develop with land based terminals and suitable technical solutions for floating LNG terminals are the main reasons why Höegh LNG chose to enter into the LNG production segment.
Even at the target volume of about 1,5 mill tons LNG per year, the unit cost is competitive with land based liquefaction projects of standard size.
